Background Conditions

The Atlantic Tunnel will link Averøy to Kristiansund The Atlantic Tunnel replaces the ferry connection Bremsnes-Kristiansund, highway 64, and provides a 24- hours` connection between Averøy and Kristiansund. The ferry connection Bremsnes - Kristiansund is history when the tunnel is opened for public traffic, spring 2009

Travelling time between Kristiansund-, the regional centre, and a number of municipalities, like Eide in Nordmøre, and others in coastal Romsdal, will be shortened. Thus a number of new joint ventures will be possible. The Atlantic Tunnel will contribute to growth and prosperity in Averøy and Kristiansund.
