What is RDS-TMC?

RDS-TMC (Radio Data System-Traffic Message Channel) is a European standard for a language independant traffic information service. The service is based upon a common European code list of messages, and a standardised system for the location of messages. The TMC-messages are broadcast as a silent RDS signal alongside radio program broadcasts in the FM-band.
