In which countries can you use your Norwegian driving licence?
The EEA driving licence model (credit card format) is valid in all EU/EEA countries.
Additionally, there are older driving licence models that are valid (two versions of a large pink driving licence, and a little green booklet). We recommend that you get the EEA driving licence model (credit card format) if you are going to travel abroad, especially if you currently have the little green booklet that does not include the international driving licence categories.
In which countries outside the EU/EEA can you use your Norwegian driving licence?
Several countries accept the EEA model, but the Norwegian Public Roads Administration recommends that you contact the authorities in the country in question, or the country’s embassy in Norway, to ask what rules apply.
How do you obtain an international driving licence?
You can obtain an international driving licence by contacting the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF), the Royal Norwegian Automobile Club (KNA) or the Norwegian Abstaining Motorists Association (MA).
