Renewing your CPC for Drivers of Emergency Vehicles
You can renew your CPC without a new driving test for up to one year after your CPC expired.
Up to one year after your CPC expired, you can renew it at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (trafikkstasjon).
To avoid waiting time at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office, book an appointment.
At the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office you will need to present valid proof of identity. You must be under 70 years of age.
In addition, you need to bring:
- A health certificate showing that you meet the health requirements for driving licence group 3 and CPC (Directorate of Health). A health certificate can be obtained from a doctor. In some cases, you will also need to submit an eyesight certificate from an optometrist or ophthalmologist (eye specialist).
- Documentation of employment that requires you to drive an emergency vehicle during emergency response.
Do you drive an emergency vehicle in connection with voluntary work?
If you drive an emergency vehicle during emergency response in connection with voluntary work, you must include documentation that the organisation in question has an agreement concerning emergency preparedness, where they must able to drive an emergency vehicle during emergency response. Such documentation may also be presented in the form of agreements showing that the AMK (Emergency Medical Communication Centre) may requisition the organisation’s services in emergency response situations.

Do you wish to renew a CPC that expired more than a year ago?
You need to hand in the documentation mentioned above at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office, and do the following:
- If your CPC expired between one and three years ago, you will have to take a new driving test.
- If your CPC expired more than three years ago, you need to undergo training with an approved course organiser and take a driving test.
You cannot renew your CPC for Drivers of Emergency Vehicles when you have reached the age of 70.
