The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) and Bane NOR (state-owned company responsible for the national railway infrastructure) are planning the joint road and rail project “E16 and Vossebanen Arna-Stanghelle”.

The project is part of the main transport corridor between Oslo and Bergen, and will be the largest tunnel project in Norway. The aim of the project is to build a safer and more reliable road and railway between Bergen and Voss.

Market dialogue 2022

The project is planning for construction to start in 2024 and has started the dialogue with the market regarding contracting strategy , in order to ensure predictability and early involvement.

A proposal for a centrally prepared zoning plan is now finished, waiting to be confirmed by the Ministry. The project is included in the National Transport Plan for 2022–2033. Construction is scheduled to start  in 2024.
