The use of modular vehicle combinations (road trains) is permitted on specific road sections in Norway.

A modular vehicle combination is a tractor-trailer combination of vehicles that each meets the requirements of Directive 96/53/EC. It may be up to 25.25 metres long and weigh up to 60 tonnes and must meet more detailed requirements set out in Annex 1 to the Regulations relating to the use of motor vehicles and in the Motor Vehicle Regulations.

The permitted road network for modular vehicle combinations consists of 22 main road sections and several connecting road sections. The sections include European roads, national roads, county roads and municipal roads. The use of modular vehicles is not permitted other than on the approved road sections.
