The exemption provision
The exemption provision for tractors and their trailers (R, S and T) is limited both in terms of time and quantity.
The exemption is limited to a period of 24 months for complete vehicles. This means that if an application to register end-of-series vehicles is granted, the vehicles must be registered within 24 months of the new requirement taking effect. For completed vehicles, the deadline is 30 months. It is Article 39 of Regulation (EU) No. 167/2013 that sets out these limitations.
The number of end-of-series vehicles may not exceed 10 % of the number of vehicles registered in the two preceding years or 20 vehicles, whichever is higher.
