When you take an assisted theory test for special-needs candidates, you take the test orally, in a separate room accompanied by an examiner. The test will be adapted to you and your needs, but the purpose is for the examiner to help you understand the questions and the answer options.
You need to attach documentation when you apply
In order to be granted an assisted theory test for special-needs candidates, you have to provide documentation confirming your needs. The documentation may come from your regular doctor, a speech therapist, a school or a teacher.
Taking the test in English
Some Driver and Vehicle Licensing Offices offer assisted (oral) theory tests in English. If you cannot find your local Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office on the list, you may apply for an interpreter-assisted theory test with an oral examiner

The digital application form for assisted theory test is only in Norwegian. If you prefer to apply in English, you can apply on paper.
You cannot book an appointment until your application has been granted.
Most applicants will receive a response to their application within two weeks, but it may sometimes take up to four weeks.
