Driving practice with a passenger car and trailer (B 96 and BE)
You must be at least 16 years old to practise driving a car and trailer. You should also hold a driving licence, or completed training, for Category B.
The person accompanying you
- must be at least 25 years old
- must have held a licence for the same category you are training in, continuously for the last five years
Information for accompanying drivers
The car
- must belong to Category B with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 3,500 kg
- must have mirrors that provide an adequate view to the rear
The trailer
- must have a total weight that does not exceed what is specified in the Vehicle Registration Certificate for the car
Mirrors
At least one mirror must provide a field of view that allows you to see the side of the trailer.
When the trailer is as wide as or wider than the car, you should be able to see
- the side of the trailer in both mirrors
- the roadway on the left side 10 metres behind you at a width of at least 2.5 metres
- the roadway on the right side behind you at a width of at least 2.0 metres
