Driving practice with a tractor (T)
You must have completed the Basic Traffic Course and be at least 15 years old to be allowed to practise driving a tractor (Category T).
The tractor must be designed to run no faster than 40 km/t.
You need to bring with you
- documentation that you have completed the Basic Traffic Course (learner's permit / provisional driving licence) or a driving licence in another category if you have one
- photo ID
If you have reached the age of 25, you are exempt from parts of the Basic Traffic Course and may drive without a learner’s permit.

The person accompanying you
- must be at least 25 years old
- must have held a licence for Category 5 continuously for the last five years
The tractor
- must be designed to not run faster than 40 km/h
- In order to practise on the road, the tractor must be registered for two people, so that there is room for your accompanying driver inside the tractor. In addition, it must have an extra mirror for the person accompanying you.
If the tractor has only one seat
You are not allowed to practise on the road if the tractor is registered for one person only, but you may use areas for agriculture or forestry.
You and your accompanying driver must be able to talk together, for example using a handsfree phone. In addition, the two of you need have visual contact, so that you can see each other while you are driving.
The trailer
- must not have a total weight that is greater than what you can legally tow with the tractor you are driving
NB! If your accompanying driver holds Category T with code 143, you can only practise with trailers with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kg.
