The road will open for controlled traffic with an escort vehicle Saturday at 13:45.

Clean-up work will continue during the night. The tunnel will close again from 22:00 to 06:00, but traffic will be escorted every other hour.

-There is still extensive clean-up work to be carried out before the tunnel can reopen under normal conditions. This may take time, and we still do not know when it can fully reopen,” says Oddbjørg Mikkelsen, Director of Operations and Maintenance at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

There is significant damage to technical equipment and cables inside the tunnel.

-Until the road reopens under normal conditions, there will continue to be challenges related to traffic flow. We ask all road users to be patient and to show consideration for other road users, road workers and ferry personnel,” Mikkelsen adds.
