The Norwegian Public Roads Administration aims to reopen the Raudhammar Tunnel on the E6 with regulated traffic by Saturday.
In addition, a new ferry connection is being established after the tunnel fire in Sørfold night to Friday.
-We will most likely be able to open for regulated traffic with a pilot car during the course of tomorrow. We quickly mobilized resources, which means that the cleanup work is now in full progress. To further relieve traffic, we have also deployed additional ferries, says Oddbjørg Mikkelsen, Regional Director for Operations and Maintenance in the north at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

Additional ferry routes
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is establishing ferry routes from Bodø to Svolvær and Skutvik starting already Friday afternoon.
A new ferry connection from Bodø to Skutvik is also being set up, to ease some of the traffic that is building up.
-In addition, an extra departure from Moskenes to Bodø and back will be added, as well as a departure between Bodø and Svolvær and back during the night,” says Marte Sørø of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
The first ferry on the Skutvik route departed already on Friday evening.
-They will continue running through the night, and from Saturday morning at 08:00 they will depart simultaneously from each ferry dock. The crossing takes 3.5 hours,” Sørø explains.
The ferries have a 30-minute turnaround time between arrival and their next departure for unloading and loading.
-We have confirmed the routes for Friday and Saturday. We will have to see how things develop after that. We are doing what we can to relieve the situation until it is possible to drive through the Raudhammar Tunnel again,” says Sørø.
