You can apply for an interpreter-assisted theory test for passenger cars, mopeds/moped cars, tractors, motorcycles and snowmobiles.

You cannot use an interpreter when you take the theory test for ADR, taxi driver CPC or driver CPC, or the theory test for heavy categories (Category C1, C, CE, D1 or D).

The interpreter participates remotely via a screen

You take the test in a separate room, accompanied by an oral examiner, while the interpreter participates remotely. The examiner communicates the questions to the interpreter, who then conveys the questions to you. You reply to the interpreter in your own language, or to the examiner in Norwegian.

You need to attach documentation when you apply

The documentation may be from a public authority, a school, a driving school or an employer who can confirm that you need an interpreter to take a theory test.

You need to book an interpreter yourself

You must use an approved interpreter from an established interpreting service. As the interpreter will be participating remotely, you can be in different parts of the country. You will have to pay for the interpreter yourself.
